10 Edible Instagrams To be Good, Bad, Healthy and Happy

Cuban picadillo Bren Herrera

Instagram is fun. You learn so much about peoples’ lives from a simple square image. At least the niche they share gives you a great idea about their lifestyle and habits. I’m hooked to it. But also feel like I have a love/hate relationship with it at times. I can spend thirty uninterrupted minutes scrolling and double-tapping anything from food, fashion, natural hair, style, travel, babies, garden, interiors, to more food.  I’m sometimes inspired by looking through Instagram. But as much as Instagram is this weird platform where we can make life look simply amazing, from anywhere in the world, at any given time, subliminal market targeting is even more fascinating. I’m no ad expert, let me just say that. But, I had to stop and think its power when I noticed that certain grams caused me to react in a funny way.

And yes, mostly food grams.

Here are 10 pictures that immediately changed something in my world. I was instantly acting on the effect each of these had on me. It’s all so odd, but if I did study and figured out the how and why, I’d be making a killing!

Enjoy these irresistible grams that will change your thoughts for a moment. They’re good for you, bad for you, will bring out the fat girl/boy (because I’m battling one inside), will remind you that your body is a real temple and you’ll go back to being a health nut (because I’m begging to be one), will inspire you to be more creative or just make you really happy!

CUBAN PICADILLO (above)

I POSTED THIS PIC TWO WEEKS AGO. I WAS SCROLLING THROUGH MY FEED TWO NIGHTS AGO  AND CAME TO THIS ONE. I IMMEDIATELY CRAVED IT AND MADE IT FOR DINNER LAST NIGHT.

Sushi Tuna In Maggies Kitchen

INMAMAMAGGIESKITCHEN. THIS MADE ME WANT TO WORK WITH SEARING AHI TUNA THE SAME WAY I ENJOY ORDERING WHEN I GO OUT FOR  SUSHI.

Pesto Steak Jonathan Hall

ONEL0WCUBN. AFTER SEEING MY BROTHER’S STEAK, I CALLED MY MOM AND ASKED HER TO MAKE SOME FOR DINNER AND SHE DID.

Asparagus Whole Foods

WHOLE FOODS. SEEING THESE ASPARAGUS SPEARS GAVE ME IDEAS OF HOW I’D LIKE TO PRESENT FOODIE GIFT TO FRIENDS.

Indian Food Bianca Borges

BIBIFOOD. CREATIVE GENIUS AT THE TODAY SHOW MADE ME DO A TRIPLE LOOK AT HER SPREAD. I THEN GOOGLED MY FAVORITE INDIAN RESTAURANT IN DC — RASIKA — AND CONTEMPLATED A FAMILY DINNER THERE.

Cherries Edible Mosaic

ANEDIBLEMOSAIC. MY FRIEND FAITH’S FOOD IS ALWAYS AWESOME. BUT THIS SHOT RESULTED IN FOUR BAGS OF CHERRY THE FOLLOWING WEEK. SOME TURNED INTO SHAKES.

Almond Croissant Edward Sargent

SARGENTEATS. THIS GUY. LOVE HIM. THIS WAS JUST EYE CANDY. I STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM BREAD, BUT I CAN JUST STARE AT THIS. AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Potato Salad Peru Delights

PERU DELIGHTS. MY FRIENDS OVER AT PERU DELIGHTS’ (MOTHER AND DAUGHTER) SALAD REMINDED ME TO TRY TO SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE SUGAR FROM MY DIET.

Bacon Grilled Cheese Emily Bites

EMILYBITESBLOG. I DON’T EVEN EAT BACON, BUT MY FRIEND EMILY MADE ME THINK THRICE. I MEAN, LOOK AT THAT!

Peaches and Cream Morena Escardo

MORENAESCARDO. THIS IS A GOOD ONE. 30 MINUTES AFTER I SAW THIS GRAM, I CALLED MY MOM WHO WAS OUT GROCERY SHOPPING, AND ASKED HER FOR PLAIN GREEK YOGURT. WITHIN THE HOUR, I WAS HAVING YOGURT WITH FRESH PEACHES AND FLAXSEED.

Eat well, love unapologetically, pray with true intention, and take care of yourself.
