A New Gig With Dean & DeLuca- "The Gourmet Blog" & A Giveaway!

DDlemonsorbetplainLast month I told you about my new writing gig with LATINA Magazine. And, oh joy how exciting it is to have my own column on their site. So far, it’s been going great.

I then mentioned on my Facebook “fan” page that I had just landed another delicious writing gig, but couldn’t share just yet. Mum was the word. But, I was busy enough establishing my column on Latina that I was okay not sharing a new one until it was time.

Allow me to digress for a moment.

A girl like me has fun recounting when I have a classic Carrie Bradshaw moment. Did I ever, three weeks ago.

A meeting with my editor at LATINA Magazine and another meeting for a potentially big project, called me to Manhattan.  My friend and I drove from D.C. the morning of and didn’t expect any delays. Lo and behold, we got stuck in the Holland tunnel, pushing back my ETA by 15 minutes. My first meeting was one I could not be late to. To make matters worse, I was in sweats and flip flops with still no makeup on.

As soon as we crossed Broadway, I pulled out my toiletry bag and got to brushing and glossing. I made that work, but changing was another issue. We pulled up and parked in an unloading only zone, 3 doors down from my 1st meeting.  Ironically and fortunately, it was right smack in front of H&M. I hopped out of the car, grabbed my day bag and ran inside the shop to change. Thankfully, they were cool with me going through a transformation in their basement dressing room. I ran back upstairs, paid for a tank and ran back to the car–the looks I got from the security guard were stone cold.

At this point, I had 5 minutes to make it to my meeting. Not quite freaking out, I anxiously and hurriedly put my 5″ stilettos on in the middle of the street, touched up my lip gloss, tossed by bag back in the car, and asked my friend to legitimately park my car. I noticed Dean & DeLuca was on the corner, not too far from my meeting.

I went for it! Not only did I need a cup of coffee but I wanted to meet the lady behind all the emails during the process of discussing writing for The Gourmet Blog. I only had time to grab coffee and I took off.

Meeting went well! Mum’s the word on that, too, but I had to go back to meet my new editor at the gourmet market. YES! I’m now a new contributing writer/blogger for Dean & DeLuca’s delicious blog. They did a really nice intro profile you can read here.

So, I trotted back to SOHO and finally met the lady behind the emails. We exchanged formalities, though at this point it seems we’ve known each other forever. What a sweet gal! We had coffee together and happily  chatted about what I’d be writing.

We strolled through the store and I mentally decided I wanted to write about everything in there!

I tasted this, that and the other and finally made up my mind on my first product. You’d think I’d go for candy, dessert, baked goods, etc… However, I came across the cutest little bottle of balsamic vinegar and I had to have it. I tasted it and knew it was a hit. Bold and beautiful. Literally.

So here we are. Another fabulous writing gig, and I’m geeked.  I’ll be contributing to the blog 3-4 times a month, and hopefully more often as I find a rock solid rhythm to my crazy schedule. Today is my first post and I’m so excited to share with you a deliciously sexy home made lemon sorbet.

The vinegar plays a part in the recipe. But, you have to go their blog to read how it’s a perfect pair and get the recipe!

As part of toasting to this awesome opportunity, we’re giving one lucky reader a generous bottle of this fantastic Italian balsamic vinegar. I won’t tell you much about it, because all that is in the post on their blog. Just know that it’s like nothing you’ve ever had before.

Much like everything else they sell!
