Is Hoda Kotb’s New Gig Good for Time’s Up Campaign and #MeToo Movement?

Was I excited on Jan. 2, 2018 when I heard Hoda Kotb was promoted to take over Matt Lauer’s chair as the new co-anchor of the Today show? Yes, indeed! It’s been years since two women have led morning news, and to boot, at the moment, two Black women are dominating our TV screens, bright and early.

No irony in that on the same day, the Time’s Up campaign, a legal fund backed by the National Women’s Law Center, launched as a response to the #MeToo movement. Hollywood powerhouses like Oprah, Reese Witherspoon, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson, Shonda Rhimes and other notable women (and men, too!) are financially supporting the effort and using their voices to continue surfacing the sexual misconduct of men against women in various industries and also nurturing the assistance with resources the victims may need.

Watch my take, echoed by news director, Guy Lambert of iconic D.C.  radio station W-PGC and Angela Rose of P.A.V.E. during a lively segment on FOX 5 D.C. evening news.

B! in the know. Stay engaged.
