This is what a balanced life looks like.
I cook and travel for a living — a combination for cooking classes, hosting private dinner parties, themed dinner events in my home, recipe development for different brands, a whole lot of restaurants reviews and explore the world with a fork and pen in hand. With all of that going on, I’m happy to take off my apron (not sure you’ll catch me wearing a chef’s coat unless I’m asked to) and rock my personal look. Messy hair, thrifted pieces, fabulous shoes and pretty makeup.
This was a few weeks ago before an early evening meeting with some fabulous ladies to discuss beauty and fashion fetes we’re thinking of initiating and hosting. Those are two things that keep me sane after a day of sautéing, searing, baking, and feeding; because every girl loves to feel and look amazing. The sun was getting ready to set but it was still blazing hot, nearing 90F that day — this is Atlanta after all — making it perfect for cladding myself in all white. The skirt was a super steal I picked up at a thrift store last summer and finally pulled it out to wear. The detail of the scalloped lace makes it so beautiful, especially paired with the high-waist, which I’m a fan of thanks to my super long legs for my 5’1″ stature. I also found the ultra fabulous wind-up watch at the same shop for $3. It works, it’s leather, it’s brass chain, it’s mine.
The booties? Well let’s just say 6″ is what I’m about but not the most comfortable I own. After 3 hours I was done. I love them, though! Pure hauteness.
When it’s 90F and humid, go for light, airy, and white. It just works.
